Get a taste of Peru’s capital city and the Andean highlands on this voyage of culinary discovery from Lima to Cuzco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu.
You’ll dine with locals and visit lesser-known villages and markets in the Sacred Valley, sample Michelin-star cuisine, and get back to the roots of Peruvian cuisine — literally — learning about the hundreds of potato species and other native ingredients at local markets.
Day 1: Upon arrival in Lima you will be met by your driver and enjoy a private transfer to your hotel. Your hotel is located just a few minutes walk or ride from some of the best restaurants in the city.
Day 2: Your private culinary tour of Peru begins with a visit to the local market. You will be able to try different fruits and juices before heading to the cathedral. Lunch is in a local ceviche restaurant and you spend the rest of the day free. Use this evening to dine at one of Peru's famous gourmet restaurants.
Day 3: Your private driver will transfer you to the airport in time for the flight to Cuzco in the Andes. Your private guide will be waiting to take you to your hotel. Take the afternoon to relax as you adapt to the altitude.
Day 4: Your private guide will take you to San Pedro market, Cuzco's main market where you can try exotic fruits or buy regional spices for instance. You will also visit the main sites around the main square.
Day 5: The Southern Valley of Cuzco is a little visited area. You will visit the Inca site of Tipon and a small town to sample local tastes and see a slice of day to day life with a visit to the market.
Day 6: Enjoy a privately guided tour of the archaeological site of Pisac which is a feat of Inca engineering. You will then have some free time at the handicraft market near to the ruins. You will then traverse the valley to participate in a typical pachamanca lunch that involves cooking local produce and meats in an earthen heaven against the beautiful backdrop of the Andes.
Day 7: Transfer to the station to board your train to Aguas Calientes, the small town at the foot of Machu Picchu. This afternoon, take a private guided tour of the magnificent Inca citadel. Back at the hotel, enjoy a complimentary pisco sour at the bar and learn the history of this classic Peruvian cocktail.
Day 8: You will have a free morning to explore Machu Picchu again at your own leisure. Should you wish to climb one of the surrounding mountains we can book that for you. Take the train back to Cuzco this afternoon, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Day 9: Enjoy one last morning at leisure. Your guide will take you back to the airport in time for the international flight.
